In my History of Design II class, we are learning about Art Deco during the 30s and 40s. And when I opened up this month’s Elle Decor, there was an article about Edgar Brandt’s Art Deco metalwork. My mind has been filled with sunbursts, ivory inlays, gold leaf and dynamic shapes for the past few weeks, so I have decided to share.
Here are some oldies but goodies:
1929 Art Deco Interior
Edgar Brandt Screen
Chrysler Building – Elevator Doors
Mailbox in the Exchange Building of Seattle, Washington
Art Deco metalwork – New York
Here are some modern day interpretations of ArT dEcO:
Ralph Lauren Home – One Fifth Collection
Catherine Martin’s Art Deco Rugs Collection
If you are intrigued like I am, re-watch The Hunger Games and notice the change of scenery while the train was heading away from District 12.
