One Impressive Guy

Today was the first day I have ever skipped class… but don’t worry, it’s not senioritis (yet). I had the pleasure of attending an ADAC seminar for their Discover ADAC week! And who did I see?! None other than Timothy Corrigan himself. One of my classmates actually interned for him this summer in L.A. (why did I not take a road trip from SF to visit??), so a bunch of us got together and drove to Atlanta to listen to him speak about his new book, An Invitation to Chateau du Grand-Luce. It was honestly one of the most inspiring speeches I have ever attended and it truly did get me excited for entering the design industry next year.

He began explaining how he was in advertising and later turned to interior design when his job transferred him to Paris, where he fell in love with design – how could you not in a city like that! After moving back to Cali and opening his firm, he started picking up clients like Madonna and SJP. In only five years, Architectural Digest placed Mr. Corrigan in their Top 100 list. Casual.

An Invitation to Chateau du Grand-Luce is set up in an interesting way: it takes you on a tour of the property, including the acres upon acres of historic gardens, as if you were there, visiting for the weekend. Each room he showed during the presentation was more elaborate than the next. Even though the architecture and grounds are formal, he designed the interiors so that they are still intimate and livable. His signature is “Comfortable Elegance,” which was genuinely represented throughout the spaces.

  1. J’teime Madame Coco!

Always good to listen to professionals like your buddy , Tim !!

One day he will say, “I remember Coco G when she came to Atlanta years ago and look how famous she is today!!”

    Love you!!!

  2. Coco – very much enjoying your blog and learning from it. Also just took time to “tour” your room. It is lovely. Were it not for your blog I would not know about Timothy Corrigan. He is going to be talking about his book/home while I am in New York and I may try to go. I think you chose wisely skipping class that day! Glad you and Adrienne got to spend time together at ACL.
